Located in Saint Bonnet-Le-Chateau only a few kilometers from Saint Etienne, the historic center of the French gun making trade. Three generations of Chapuis have established their name in the making of traditional best guns, 

Both rifled and smoothbore. 

All Chapuis side-by-sides incorporate the famous double-lug breech locking system that was created by Chapuis Armes in 1974 to correct the inherent weakness of older single lug designs. Chapuis barrels are cold hammered from special high tensile strength steels. They are joined by a full length, one piece band for remarkable stability, and rust blued in the tradition of the old masters for a remarkably durable and beautiful finish. Chapuis Armes purchases the best walnut blanks from French and Circassian sources. 

These blanks are then graded, sorted, and then stored for several years to establish perfect stability.  
  
Chapuis Armes retains the services of a dozen European Master Engravers. Engraving may be chosen from standard model patterns or Chapuis will create original drawings, under your guidance, which will produce one of a kind works of art.
